Our Story

When 2 people with such a huge love for animals get together it’s only natural that their furry family is going to grow, especially when there are 12+ acres and several outbuildings to work with. Clare, up to this point, had most of her expertise working with dogs and cats as she spent many years as a vital part of the local animal shelter. Bonnie lived on a horse farm for most of her adult life and worked with many different species as a Veterinary Technician.

2014

Our Farm Journey Begins

It all started with a few goats and then a donkey. We loved the joy they brought us and before we knew it, these goofy, playful cuties had stolen our hearts. They were the beginning of something special, even though we didn’t know it yet.

2015

Alpacas Join the Farm

Clare discovered alpacas on the internet. We read a lot and learned a lot, then we visited a couple of farms to meet these long-necked fluff balls. We built some fences, made some adjustments, and brought home 3 girls from a nearby farm. They quickly became fun additions with their goofy personalities and super soft fiber, and by late fall we had visited several more alpaca farms and added 6 more girls to our little herd. Over the years, several have left us and several others have joined our herd which is currently at 11.

2016

Continued Growth

The farm continues to grow as we add a very special pair of baby donkeys and a few more goats to the mix. We work on updating barns, adding more barn space and putting up more fencing.

2019

More Furry Friends And a New Barn!

Bonnie’s love for horses brought 2 minis to the farm in late spring. A couple of baby goats also found their way into our hearts and lives. With big plans for an “at home” business, we took the leap and had a nice new barn put up in late fall. The shell was built and we thought we had a plan but then…

2020

Covid Changes Everything

Like everyone, we hit pause when the world shutdown. But something unexpected happened – people started looking for ways to be outside and to reconnect with nature.

We kept hearing the same question: Can we come out to the farm to see the animals? We were having so much fun welcoming people into our little piece of heaven that we decided it was time for a new plan. We wanted to share what we had built so we opened our gates, and the word spread.

2021-2022

Sweet Memories Farm is Born

We spent these 2 years working hard on growing our dreams for the farm. After hosting several Day-Care, Pre-K, and Kindergarten classes along with a few other large groups we decided to take the new barn we had built in 2019 in a different direction. The barn would no longer be finished to house animals, instead, it would become a gathering place for farm related events, a fun craft space, and our Sweet Memories Farm Store.

2023

The Farm Store Opens

The year was filled with lots of hard work, research and planning in-between doing normal farm stuff, farm tours, and other farm upgrades. Finally, on Black Friday & Small Business Saturday we opened the doors to our new space and our very own Sweet Memories Farm Store. It was a huge success!

2024

A Year of Growth

We spent 2024 working on improving what we have and finding ways to grow the farm experience. We had a great year with lots of visitors, both young & older, and returning & new.

And here we are today, still growing, still welcoming new faces, and still making sweet memories every day. We continue to work on new and exciting plans for the farm and the store so you just never know what could be next for Sweet Memories Farm.
